SUPERFLY LEADERS OF GREETERS

CONTACT:        Sweetthang

PURPOSE:

To provide Crews of Greeters with at least a minimum of experienced guidance and support during the regular 4-hour greeters shifts.

WHAT YOU DO:

  1. Wrangling: As a Lead Greeter you will be in charge of wrangling a delightfully exuberant and unmanageable crew of 6-10 fun-loving Greeters for 4 hours along with another Lead Greeter.
  2. Radio: You will be responsible for your very own 2-way radio and may be expected to know how to use it. You will need have a working familiarity with basic radio protocol (we will show you how!) and be able to clearly communicate and relay information.
  3. Training: Lead Greeters need to familiarize themselves with the main points of the Greeters’ message as well as the hand-out materials we dispense and feel comfortable enough with the greeting process to provide a quick orientation and some helpful greeting tips to both first-time Greeters and savvy veterans so they can start greeting as soon as possible once they’ve arrived for their shift.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Shifts are 4 hours long and Lead Greeters should expect to sign up for a minimum of 4 anytime during the 8 day period beginning Friday, August 24, 2001 and ending Saturday, September 3, 2001. In addition, we will need Greeters for the weekend of the burn and your participation at that time. We also need your help and involvement in pre-playa meetings, trainings, site planning and on-site build-up and tear-down. Your exuberant participation will ingratiate you with other Greeters and possibly influence your shift preferences. (Hint, hint!).

No one will be turned away if their commitment level doesn’t meet our suggested minimum but if you have never greeted before, or if this is your first year at Burning Man, we may ask that you start this year as a Greeter if you are unable to come to the planning and training meetings in San Francisco prior to the event.
